RE-EMERGENT - This water-based application is sprayed over dirt, landscaped rock or lawn areas to control the growth of broadleaf annual weeds. Pre-emergent means simply - before emerging. This material stops seeds from germinating, thus stopping weeds before they start. Since pre-emergents only affect seeds it can usually be sprayed over existing plants without affecting them. According to manufacturers labels, pre-emergents last from 6 to 8 months. In Arizona, depending on the property, we can usually get a full 9 months of good weed control. No matter the property, regularly scheduled applications are the best key to weed free properties.

OST-EMERGENT - This liquid application is sprayed directly on unwanted weeds to kill them. The systemic material is absorbed through the leaf or skin of the plant and is drawn into the root to insure the death of the weed. This application can be used for dirt, rock landscape or lawns alike. In lawns, selective post-emergents are used to kill the broad-leaf weeds but leave the wanted grasses unharmed. Please note that care must be taken when using post-emergents around ornamental plants especially on windy days.

LIVE FRUIT CONTROL - Arizona Weed King, Inc. sprays thousands of trees annually. We can begin spraying as early as January using a material called Maintain. Unfortunately this material is tougher on the tree and we do not usually recommend this material for residential applications. Normally, residential applications are done later in the spring during a specific window of time when the tree buds have reached a specific maturity. At that time we spray materials call Fruit Stop and Embark. These materials have a less strenuous effect on the tree.

Olive fruit control is an imperfect science. There are many factors that influence the amount of control on any given tree including temperatures, rainfall and locality. While we achieve absolute control on most of the trees, 95% control on any given tree is an acceptable result in our industry. To insure your trees are on our schedule at the optimum time, give us your approval no later than the end of February. If we miss the window of opportunity, it does no good to spray and we'll just have to wait until next year.
